CALUMET 4X5 TECHNICAL VIEW CAMERA Don't let the appearance put you off, The Calumet 4x5 is a real workhorse type of camera. It doesn't look particularly slick in design but it does everything you need in a technical camera. Its Mechano ( if you know what that is ) like fabrication is sturdy and can take a beating. Friction geared ( with quick release ) front and rear frame movement for ultrafast initial setup. Swing, shift, rise, fall, and tilt moves have a neutral position detent and lock - up. The lever operated spring back rotates over the full 360 degrees, has detents for vertical / horizontal shooting and is also lockable. This is a compact and peculiar looking camera with mechanical details no other manufacturer dared to came up with, just made to function. Rotating back, lock lever, film cassette loading lever, dark cloth clamps, cut-corner ground-glass ( to check for vignetting ), friction focus mechanism with quick release and lock up. No nonsense  " Mechano " style build, sturdy and up to the job. For the looks a black finish would do miracles I guess.
